Conference LocationThe conference will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Georgia . This is a classic hotel located right in downtown Vancouver. See their website for location details. TransportationIt will not be necessary to rent a car for the duration of the conference. Located in downtown Vancouver, everything is accessible by foot. You can reach the Hotel Georgia from the Vancouver airport by taxi (~CAD$25 one way) or with the Airporter Bus (CAD$12 one way), which stops at the hotel. If you wish to enjoy yourself, take the limo , which is only slightly more expensive than a taxi (~CAD$35 one way). For those arriving by train or bus , the station is a short taxi ride from the hotel, or you can take the light rail into town from the train station. CurrencyWelcome to Canada. US$ accepted here. The Canadian dollar is the official currency with a current exchange rate of approximately CAD$1.55 == US$1.00. Most stores will accept US$, but at a poor exchange rate. Use credit cards whereever possible, which is almost everywhere (VISA, MasterCard and American Express). Make sure that your credit card is enabled for international use, and don't forget your PIN number in the unlikely case that you need to draw cash from the card. ConnectivityThe Hotel Georgia has a business center with internet connections open 24 hours a day. The conference will include wired and wireless access in the main conference room from Wednesday through Friday. Please bring your own ethernet card (wired or wireless). For presenters, several computers will be available for use during your presentation. Windows 2000 with MS Office, Linux with OpenOffice, and Mac OS X with AppleWorks. VancouverFor those of you coming early or staying late, Vancouver is a beautiful city with many offerings to entertain you. A couple of sites with more information are Vancouver Tourist and vancouver.com , but the Hotel Georgia also has a tourist wall with lots of pamphlets on what you can enjoy locally.
