Special Social Activites

The Tcl Association has arranged some special events for Friday after the technical sessions are over. If you want to attend these, you'll need to sign up for them at the conference.

October 15, 2010 - Friday afternoon -- Tour of Fermilab

Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory

A tour lasts about two hours and begins in Wilson Hall. Visitors view the Laboratory from the 15th floor windows and visit various displays located there. The tour moves to the Linear Accelerator building where visitors see the Cockcroft-Walton, the components in the linear accelerator gallery and the Main Control Room. There is a docent for every 20 people. Registration required since tours must be arranged in advance.

October 15, 2010 - Friday evening -- Drury Lane Dinner Theater

Dinner-theater at the award winning Drury Lane theater located next to our hotel.

The Tcl Assocation has arranged a special package price for dinner and theater at $44.00 per person. (These are regularly $64 per person.)

Georgios Petasis

Georgios's main interests are Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning and Tcl/Tk. He developed the Tk DragNDrop package, Tcl Agents, the Tk Toolbar and more. He recently completed migrating a major application from IncrTcl on Tcl8.5 to TclOO on Tcl8.6.

Registration

Online registration is ready now.

Hotel

The conference will be held at the Hilton Suites Oakbrook Terrace , with rooms at $99.00 (US) per night from Sunday (10/10) to the following Sunday (10/17). (Extensions of this rate may be possible. Inquire when you make a reservation.)

When the Hilton software does not have a room in our block available for a night you've requested, it only offers rooms at the $179.00 rate. If that happens to you, contact Beata Fila ([email protected]) and let her know what nights you wish to book. It will be taken care of.

These rooms will be released to the general public after September 26, so be sure to reserve your room early.

Tutorials

Come learn about Tcl from the experts. The tutorials will include both introductory classes for Tcl newcomers and advanced classes where experienced programmers will learn new tricks and techniques.

For those who are not presenting a paper at the conference, but would like to present their work in some form, we do provide several other forms of participation.

Slots for Works-in-Progress (WIP) presentations and Birds-of-a-Feather sessions (BOFs) are available on a first-come, first-served basis by sending email to [email protected]. Some WIP and BOF time slots will be held open for on-site reservation, so we encourage all attendees with interesting work in progress to consider presenting that work at the conference. -->
